What do you love about your city?
San Diego is Home! A beautiful city with the best view, the best skyline, the best people and the best communities. Being a part of Hillcrest and the LGBTQ+ community has given me a community to call Family. I love this city and my community.
I love a direct drink with a hint of sweet and salty. This drink gives you all that goodness in one plus the bit from the Jägermeister cold brew. It really accents each other. Combining the Jägermeister Cold Brew with a single malt scotch and then balancing it out with smoked sea salt with a bit of Madagascar vanilla foam is just what the cocktail doctor ordered.
My inspiration is these cozy nights we have been having lately and the trend of everyone wanting espresso (or any coffee forward) martinis. I love San Diego! I am a bar & restaurant owner and a member of our community of Hillcrest. Hillcrest is the heart and soul of the LGBTQ+ community.
Cocktail Name: Hillcrest Boss Lady (Representing Hillcrest San Diego)
Name: Moe Girton
- 2 parts 12 yr. single malt scotch
- 1 part Jägermeister Cold Brew Coffee
- 3 dashes Mole Bitters
- Madagascar Vanilla Foam
- Maldon Smoked Sea Salt
Garnish: Shaved Chocolate
Method: Combine all ingredients into shaker. Shake and strain. Top with a sweet vanilla cream foam, and rimmed with Maldon Smoked Sea salt
Tips & Tricks: Vanilla Sweet Cream Foam
- 1 tablespoon Heavy Cream,
- 1 tablespoon Vanilla Extract,
- 1 tablespoon Vanilla Syrup,
- 1 madagascar Vanilla Pod,
- 1/2 cup whole milk.
- froth with a hand frother
Moe got her start in Bartending at the Flame in 2001. She opened Gossip Grill in 2009 and created all the drink menus for the bar. In 2016, while opening up insideOUT, Moe started studying the craft cocktail world more and created a spirit / Craft cocktail program both at insideOut and a few other restaurants in Hillcrest. Most recently, Moe opened Barrel & Board where with the help of another mixologist created an upscale cocktail program.
