Cocktail: The 6th City Guardian
- 1 part Jägermeister Original
- 1 part Mezcal Joven
- .5 part Apple brandy
- .25 part Allspice Dram
- 2-3 Dash of Bitterman's Xocolatl Mole Bitters
- 3-4 Dash Black Pepper Tincture*
Glassware: Nick & Nora
Garnish: One whole star anise
Preparation: Place all ingredients into a mixing/yari glass. Insert ice into the glass and stir until properly diluted. Place Julep strainer into the glass and pour into chilled Nick & Nora glass. Garnish with one whole star anise.

What are some tips & Tricks in regards to your cocktail?
Black Pepper Tincture:
Black peppercorns (2 ounces by volume); Everclear (2 ounces)
- Toast peppercorns on medium-high heat until aromatic (about 2-3 minutes)
- Lightly ground in a mortar & pestle or (1 pulse in a blender)
- Combine with 151 proof Everclear
- Steep for 24 hours
- Strain out peppercorns through a wet food service cloth
- Seal and label
What about you're city inspired you to create this fantastic cocktail?
Cleveland is a bit of an oddball. You get a funny look when you say you're from Cleveland. But hold your horses, my friends. Don’t overlook our history. The fields of science and technology have both been heavily influenced by some of Cleveland's best minds. Rock and roll was coined in Cleveland. It is one of the leading cities in the world for many high art circles and medical advances. You heard of Superman, right? You're welcome.
Cleveland has and will always be a guardian leading several incredible fields forward. With its mix of bold structures, green emerald necklace, diverse culture… The 6th City Guardian was inspired by Cleveland’s complexity. Smooth but spicey, fruity, and bold. Be ready for an intriguing adventure.
What does hospitality mean to you?
"Misfits aren't misfits among other misfits."
To be unique in our field is surprisingly easy with just one word...passion. But, unless you are surrounded by those with a similar thrill for what you do, those who want constant growth in this field and for their team to surround themselves with further knowledge and hospitality...you will be the outcast. Many don’t understand why we stick to this profession of long hours, hard days, and little to no reward. What can I say, we are misfits for certain…but we stay because we have a passion for what we do and adore sharing that emotion with others. To me, hospitality is just that. Creating an escape, a sanctuary for those who need that time away by expressing our passion, is what keeps me in this field.

An industry enthusiast tasked to be the preeminent local provider of comprehensive, accurate, accessible, and unbiased education for service and hospitality professionals as the Brand Liaison, Events Coordinator and Education chair for the United States Bartender's Guild here in Cleveland. Cassaundra's past accomplishments include being a CAP for the Tales of the Cocktail program, Team Taco at the San Antonio Cocktail Conference, and a Thirst Scholar for Thirst Boston. She has been keeping herself busy recently with the development and creation of bar programs, training of those programs, and further education of staff. Showcasing the creation and maintenance of proper inventory control, crafting of products, and batching/balancing of all draft, bottled, and featured cocktails. Her motto, “Hey we’re Cleveland…we aren’t so bad, promise ;) “
