Hey Alex, what inspired you to create this amazing cocktail?
Before the pandemic there existed a beloved coffee shop & community space in the French Quarter I enjoyed. For those of us who lived or worked in the Quarter, this café provided a place that felt like it was truly ours, in contrast to an area that is notoriously saturated with tourist traps. The Rampart Cissy Strut is an ode to my favorite of their drink offerings, the 628 Rampart Street. This drink aptly captures the essence of the New Orleans service industry… late, raucous nights serving travelers, followed by a little of our own revelry and then perked back up the next day ready to do it all over again with the help of our holy trinity: bubbles, caffeine, & a tiny hair of the dog.
What do you love most about the city?
Wow, let me count the ways… This city generates passion and relishes the beauty of imperfection. Everything is hanging out for all to see, the good, the bad & the ugly. New Orleans has a way of taking what’s ugly & turning it into expression, motivation, transformative energy… I love the way our community comes together to lift one another up through thick & thin. It has taught me so much about being in service not only to guests, but to each other.

After studying Italian in college, I started bartending to scratch my creative itch & possibly relocate to Italy to do something I love (everywhere in the world could use a bartender, right?). I moved to New Orleans, inspired by its creative energy, collective passion, and historic presence of so many of my favorite things: cocktails, music, food, art, etc. I knew I could learn a lot here, and the city proceeded to steal my heart. Having had the honor of working at some amazing bars alongside some cocktail legends over the past six years, I am now heading up my own program at the local’s favorite respite from the norm. With an ever-changing, seasonal & locally sourced menu, I aim to keep things simple, fun, and 100% tasty.
