Inspiration:

For this month’s Shift Drink, I wanted to showcase Jägermeister’s 56 herbs, spices, roots, fruits, and flowers from all over the world, while also combining German Kräuterlikör with a Southeast Asian staple, Thai Tea. Adding the coffee and Chocolate from Jägermeister Cold Brew Coffee, also gives a nod to National Cold Brew Day later this month. Thai tea is one of my favorite “treats” any time of day, but especially after a spicy meal, and home to one of the best Thai restaurants in the country, Lotus of Siam. This recipe can also be easily adapted to fit individual preferences and palates. I hope you enjoy! Prost!

Mathias's Tips & Tricks

  • If you’d prefer, you can use a Thai tea blend. Blends are typically all spiced up already and you can omit the spices. When brewing the tea, you can also add some more spice if you’d like.
  • I like to use coconut palm sugar for Thai tea. You can easily use other sweetener options depending on preference and availability
  • You can also swap out the dairy milk if you prefer. Whole milk, half & half, or coconut/soy milk will also work
  • The tea mixture is your backbone. The recipe listed is a good starting point. Feel free to go with different measurements of spices based on your taste preference
  • The recipe suggests my ratio of Jägermeister Cold Brew Coffee to tea and dairy. Feel free to adjust these as well

*Thai Tea Mix

  • 8 TBSP Loose Black Tea
  • 4 Cups Water
  • 2 TBSP Vanilla Extract
  • 8 Star Anise Pods
  • 4 TBSP Whole Clove
  • 4 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 1 Vanilla Bean, Halved
  • ½ tsp. Turmeric (Optional)
  • 8 TBSP Coconut Palm Sugar

In a saucepan, bring water to simmer. Add all dry ingredients and simmer 5 minutes. Strain solids and let mix cool.

Cream Mix

  • 1 cup Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • ¼ cup Evaporated Milk
  • Mix ingredients together with a mixer or hand blender
